EPA 319h Wolf Lake turbidity and total suspended sediments

Robert Kröger, Eric Dibble, Bruce Leopold

Graduate Student(s):  Thad Huenemann, Tyler Stubbs

The project consisted of monitoring being carried out in conjunction with the implementation of Best Management Practices in the Wolf Lake drainage basin. This data collection effort is focused at evaluating changes in turbidity and TSS levels within the lake that occur in conjunction with the implementation of Best Management Practices as identified in the Wolf and Broad Lake WIP. Turbidity and sediment regulatory criteria relevant to the monitoring goals can be found in the Wolf and Broad Lake WIP.

Furthermore, monthly sampling of turbidity, TSS, water temperature, DO, pH, and specific conductance were preformed in several locations to "map" the distribution of water quality conditions in different areas of the lake. Monitoring will be conducted by Mississippi State University with cooperation with MDWFP and oversight by MDEQ, and EPA.

This project has finished field data collection and is now processing, collating and analyzing data to produce a final report to MDEQ by December.
